The Effect of Flocculants and Water Content on the Separation of Water from Dredged Sediment

Dredged sediment has high water content, and its engineering characteristics are poor; therefore, the treatment disposal of dredged is difficult, utilization efficiency these resources low. Various methods can be used to dehydrate sediment, among which flocculation dewatering most widely used. In this study, basic properties were examined, dehydration effect was analyzed in relation polyaluminum ferric chloride (PAFC) dosage, time. There an optimal flocculant dosage added during processing. with content obvious effect. Flocculant speed up a short time, but long-term no advantages compared natural sediment; even weaker than that later stages sedimentation. Meanwhile, paper divided settling process into different stages; settlement coefficients compaction indexes well reflect flocculating performance flocculants at each stage.
